Medical transportation is a non-emergency medical service for people who need assistance or company getting to and from doctor’s appointments or same-day (outpatient) procedures. Our Hospital-to-Home™ companions are your chaperones to and from medical visits. Whether you’re headed to a doctor’s appointment, pharmacy, or senior or adult day care, you can keep all your appointments with medical transportation.

If your doctor schedules an outpatient procedure, you must have a responsible adult who can take you home. When family or friends aren’t available, your Hospital-to-Home™ companion is. Whenever you need to go in for a medical appointment or procedure, simply contact True Care. One of our companions will go with you to the office, wait until your procedure is finished, and return home with you.

    If medical transportation occurs during your approved hours of service, healthcare transport is covered the same way your caregiver’s hours are covered. You can request extra hours from your insurance company if you need medical transportation beyond your regularly covered hours.

    When would I need healthcare transport?

    If you have a same-day or outpatient procedure (e.g., a colonoscopy or cataract surgery), you will need an adult chaperone to pick you up and take you home. Your companion gets you to your procedure on time, waits until you are ready to be discharged, and goes back home with you.

    Does medical transit include transportation?

    If you need assistance with arranging transportation, that can be arranged in addition to the care transportation.

    Will my companion stay with me during my appointment or procedure?

    Yes! You can request your companion to stay with you during the appointment or procedure. They can also help you take notes and record information.
